Context

Root Inc., part of Accenture, is a consulting firm responsible for deploying management strategies to a wide range of clients. These strategies help clients’ customer experience, operations, adaptation of technology, unlocking talent and more. Many of Root’s clients include 14 of the Fortune Top 20, 35 of the Fortune Top 50 and 61 of the Fortune Top 100. How can we deliver client strategies creatively, with a fresh perspective?

Solution

Root uses unique visual tools and methods to engage all levels of an organization and align, implement, and sustain strategies for accelerated results. These visual tools range from physical illustrations and infographics, to digital e-learning platforms. As a visual designer in the illustration department, I aided on case studies for companies like Ford, Dick's Sporting Goods, the US Olympic Association and more. Additionally, I helped illustrate strategies of my own for companies like Associate for Corporate Growth, Cigna Health Insurance and Holmann Automotives.

Insights

General observations across projects included: 

  • Lack of communication between teams; teams are siloed 

  • Lack of information and clarity on roles across organizations

  • Unclear understanding of resources, goals and objectives

  • Need to uncover and inform on areas of growth within teams

  • For Root specifically; lack of sales and visual assets to pitch to new clients on their value using their own process

Contribution

  • Conducted preliminary research for clients such as Ford, Daimler, the US Olympics Association and other Fortune 500 clients.

  • Developed infographics and illustrations that would be used in workshops and client strategy meetings in the form of customer journey maps, system maps and ecosystem maps

  • Researched and presented trends and important movements within the art and design world to the concepting and visual team

  • Built toolkits that could be used for both internal and external purposes, with clients

  • Collaborated with business consultants and other creatives to develop new ideas and storytelling strategies for clients.
